The world shattered into light.
For a moment, there was nothing—no sound, no ground, no direction.
Then—
Reality snapped back into place.
Shadow’s feet touched solid ground.
He exhaled lightly.
"...So this is it."
One by one, the rest of the group appeared around him, materializing from streaks of fading light. The teleportation array was gone. The guild. The chamber.
Everything.
Only the dungeon remained.
Or rather—
A different world pretending to be one.
The air was cleaner here. Sharper. Alive in a way the city wasn’t.
A vast forest stretched in every direction, sunlight pouring through dense green canopies above. The trees were tall but unfamiliar, their shapes slightly wrong if looked at too long. The ground was soft with moss and scattered glowing plants that pulsed faintly like distant breathing.
Strange calls echoed through the forest—but not from any known birds.
Something about them felt... off.
Shadow slowly scanned the environment.
"...So this is a dungeon," he muttered.
Leon stepped beside him, eyes narrowed slightly. "It feels like a separate dimension layered onto reality."
Mike nodded. "That’s exactly what it is. Nobody really knows where dungeons come from. They just... appear. Some are similar. Some are completely different."
The scout stretched his neck. "Translation: no one knows, don’t think too hard about it, just don’t die."
The assassin smirked. "That’s usually the correct summary."
Lara looked around quietly, taking in the forest. "It’s... beautiful."
Then she glanced at Shadow for a brief moment.
"...In a dangerous way."
Shadow didn’t respond immediately. His eyes remained fixed on the forest line.
Too stable. Too clean. No natural imbalance.
"...It’s too clean," he said finally.
Mike frowned. "Clean?"
Leon glanced at him. "Like something is managing it?"
"Or watching it," Shadow replied.
A brief silence passed.
The forest suddenly felt less peaceful.
Mike clapped his hands once. "Alright, enough thinking. Standard formation—stay alert and maintain spacing. Scout, check ahead."
The scout gave a lazy salute. "Finally, my moment to almost die professionally."
He moved forward into the trees, disappearing quickly into the foliage.
The group followed at a controlled pace, spacing themselves out.
Lara moved slightly closer to Shadow without making it obvious.
"So..." she said lightly. "You always analyze places like that?"
Shadow didn’t look at her immediately. "Only when they look like they might kill me."
"That’s most places, isn’t it?" she replied with a small smile.
"...Fair point."
Leon glanced between them. "This is a depressing hobby."
Shadow replied instantly. "It keeps me alive."
"Fair," Leon said again.
A short pause.
The scout’s voice came through from ahead.
"Uh... guys? We’ve got company."
The group instantly slowed.
Mike raised a hand. "Form up."
They moved forward cautiously, breaking through a line of trees—
And stopped.
Five figures stood ahead.
Goblins.
Short, hunched, green-skinned creatures with crude weapons. Their movements were erratic, twitchy, driven purely by aggression and instinct.
But the moment they saw the group, something changed in them.
Not understanding.
Just hesitation.
Nine humans.
A predator presence.
The goblins hesitated.
For the first time—
They looked uncertain.
The assassin tilted her head. "Huh. They’re scared."
"Good," the scout whispered. "I like when things are scared of us."
Then—
A cold, unfamiliar pressure appeared in Shadow’s mind.

Shadow’s gaze shifted slightly forward.
’So it reacts like this here...’
Interesting.
No voice. No emotion. Just information.
Mike lifted his weapon slightly. "Alright, standard formation—prepare to engage. Don’t break spacing."
Shadow didn’t speak.
He simply observed.
’Different...’
Not beasts like the ones he had hunted in the forest.
These carried intent. Crude intelligence mixed with instinct. Not fully wild.
One goblin suddenly snapped forward and charged.
"Engage!"
Mike’s voice snapped the group into action.
But Shadow had already moved.
A flicker of fire ignited in his palm.
At the same time—
Leon stepped forward on the opposite angle.
Water condensed sharply in his hand.
Their movements weren’t planned.
Not spoken.
Not coordinated.
But the moment the fight began—
They aligned.
Shadow flicked his hand.
A thin burst of fire shot forward—controlled, precise.
Leon followed immediately.
A sharp jet of water struck the ground in front of the goblins.
Steam erupted instantly.
A thick white fog swallowed the battlefield.
The goblins panicked inside it, aggression breaking under confusion.
Shadow’s voice came calmly through the mist.
"Left two blind. Center is confused."
Leon replied just as calmly. "Right ones are exposed."
No hesitation.
No discussion.
Just understanding.
Shadow stepped into the steam.
A goblin swung blindly—
Fire burst upward from Shadow’s palm, disrupting its vision and balance.
Another turned—
Water slammed into it, forcing it backward.
Leon moved silently, cutting angles, controlling space.
Fire again.
Water again.
Not large spells.
Not dramatic magic.
Just efficiency.
Confusion.
Disruption.
Control.
Within moments—
The fog began to fade.
Five bodies collapsed into the grass.
A faint pressure surfaced in Shadow’s mind as the last goblin fell.

Shadow’s eyes flickered slightly.
No celebration.
No reaction.
Just confirmation.
The world continued as if nothing had changed.
The scout blinked. "...Did we just get ignored in our own fight?"
The assassin exhaled slowly. "I didn’t even get a target."
Mike stared at Shadow and Leon—but this time, his expression wasn’t dismissal.
It was surprise.
"...That coordination wasn’t planned," he said slowly. "But it was... perfect timing."
Leon shrugged slightly. "It happened mid-fight."
Shadow looked briefly at the goblins.
"...Weak," he muttered under his breath. He expected more even though they were only in an F rank dungeon.
Lara stepped slightly closer, her eyes still following Shadow rather than the battlefield.
"So... that’s how you fight," she said softly.
Shadow glanced at her. "Disappointed?"
She quickly shook her head. "No. Just... surprised."
Then she added, quieter than before—
"...You were kind of cool when you were fighting."
Shadow paused for half a second.
Then looked away.
"...It’s just survival for me."
But Lara didn’t look away as quickly.
And she definitely didn’t stop thinking about it.
The forest around them returned to silence.
But deeper inside the dungeon—
Something else had already noticed them.
