Hua Jing’s lips curled into a slow, taunting smile as she tilted her head at Jiang Lei. "Shall I tell them how it really happened?" Her voice was light, almost playful, yet the sharpness underneath it was undeniable.

To be honest coma she did not care that much about what was happening right now. All that she wanted was to ensure that this wedding ended in pure chaos!

Jiang Lei stiffened.

"How you told me all those words, how you promised me the world? And the moment someone dangled something shinier in front of you, you abandoned me like I was nothing."

A heavy silence followed.

The guests exchanged glances, whispers rising between them like the rustling of leaves in the wind.

Jiang Lei’s face darkened. "That’s not—"

"Not what?" Hua Jing cut him off smoothly. "Not true? Not something you want to hear?"

Her fingers curled at her sides, nails digging into her palms. I thought that if we married, I could finally be free. The thought crossed her mind like an old wound reopening. I thought he was my escape. But the moment Hua Ling stepped in, he changed. As if the man I once knew had never even existed.

She swallowed down the bitterness clawing its way up her throat and let her smile widen.

Suddenly, someone from the crowd scoffed.

"Hua Ling, didn’t you say she was the one interfering in your relationship?"

A few others nodded.

"You said she was shamelessly clinging to your fiancé," another noblewoman added, narrowing her eyes. "That she wouldn’t let go of him no matter what."

"But it sounds like she was there first," another voice chimed in. "And that you took him away from her."

Hua Ling’s breath hitched. Her grip on Jiang Lei’s sleeve tightened.

Jiang Lei, who had been silent until now, slowly exhaled through his nose.

He glanced at Hua Ling.

And then, in a single, measured movement—he loosened his grip on her hand.

But most of all—she wanted to slap Jiang Lei for his sudden cowardice.

Chen Li, standing nearby, could see the way her daughter’s hands shook.

Her gaze flickered to Jiang Lei, who remained tense but silent, and she felt something sharp and unpleasant curl in her gut.

"Enough!" he roared, his voice cutting through the chaos like a blade. "Stop this stupidity right now! This is a wedding, not some public spectacle!"

His harsh tone made several people flinch. Even Hua Ling, who had been seething with anger, hesitated.

But the crowd did not quieten as he had hoped. Instead, they exchanged confused glances.

The illusion of a joyous celebration had already shattered into pieces. The air was thick with tension, the truth laid bare for all to see.

A noblewoman, unable to contain her skepticism, murmured, "Does the Patriarch seriously believe that the wedding can go on after all of this?"

Another nobleman scoffed, "It’s already in ruins. The Seventh Consort has exposed everything."

"You!" he snapped, his finger jabbing in her direction. "You can’t be doing this in front of everyone. You can’t be embarrassing your sister and your mother like this!"

Hua Jing, who had been watching the entire performance with an amused glint in her eyes, tilted her head.

"My sister? My mother?" She repeated the words slowly, letting them roll off her tongue like something foreign. Then she sneered. "Those people were never my sister or my mother."

The crowd collectively sucked in a breath.

Hua Ling’s face twisted with fury.

Chen Li’s entire body went rigid, her fingers tightening around the embroidered handkerchief she had been clutching.

She turned her gaze to the audience, the nobles, the scholars, the dignitaries, and all the wealthy families who had attended the wedding with the intention of celebrating.

"Since everyone is here, let’s talk about what real family looks like, shall we?"
