Monster Hunter of the One Piece World

Although the Hunter Handbook—one of Sherwin cheat abilities—is rather stingy, his other cheat, the inherited memories of the Hunters, is incredibly considerate and gentle.

These memories don’t shock his mind at all. Instead, they can be accessed and reviewed at any time like a computer hard drive, which is surprisingly user-friendly.

So after Sherwin closed his eyes and sorted through the newly added inherited memories, he basically understood what this so-called style system actually was.

Rather than calling them combat styles, they were more like specific combat states—each one required entering a corresponding emotional condition.

Or, put in more refined terms, a state of mind.

Take the Courage Style Sherwin had used before as an example. To activate it, he needed a pure and unwavering determination to press forward.

And that kind of unwavering resolve wasn’t just about being reckless or letting adrenaline take over. If that were enough, Sherwin could simply start demon mode with dual blades and swing himself into a frenzy.

To truly enter the state of Courage Style, he had to control his emotions rather than be controlled by them.

In other words, even with his mind completely clear, he had to maintain a fearless mindset—one that treated life and death lightly...

In short, it was a style perfectly suited for hot-blooded idiots.

To be honest, once Sherwin understood the principles behind the Courage Style, he was a bit shocked at how he even managed to activate it in the first place.

For example, the Aerial Style required him to enter a mindset that felt "light," "free," and "unrestrained."

To summarize the style system simply—Monster Hunter skills had suddenly become reliant on one state of mind.

Also, the actual situation of these styles differed slightly from how they worked in the games.

Using Courage Style as an example again: in the game, one had to slowly build up courage value in the longsword-sheathed mode before entering the explosive Courage state.

But in reality, as long as he entered the correct mindset, he could activate Courage Mode at any time.

However, after the burst was over, he needed to stay in longsword-sheathed mode for a period to recover—or rather, to let his body and mind cool down.

In other words, the so-called Courage Style was somewhat similar to Link Time, functioning as a method of overclocked explosive output.

However, if we’re talking about similarity, the Striker Style resembled Link Time even more, since both focused primarily on burst speed.

Bushido Style was something different. It felt a bit like Shimotsuki Koushirou interpretation of swordsmanship—an approach to combat that infused conviction into extreme calmness.

As for Guild Style and Alchemy Style, there wasn’t much to say. Guild Style was the most basic combat mode, with no strengths but no weaknesses either.

Alchemy Style focused more on knowledge in short, it was essentially a strengthened version of a Hunter who relied on items.

Although Sherwin had already learned how to activate each style through the inherited memories—and had even experienced them firsthand through the memories of the Hunters—he still couldn’t activate all of them easily.

First of all, his knowledge reserve wasn’t enough for Alchemy Style. The world of One Piece didn’t have the materials from the Monster Hunter world, so the formulas in the inherited memories were useless.

Being able to "shake" alchemy items mid-battle was simply impossible for Sherwin.

On the other hand, Haibara Meow and Purah Meow might be able to try Alchemy Style. Klee Meow and Jinx could probably use it too—but those two cats would most likely, no, absolutely, only "shake" out bombs.

Bushido Style was the same. Sherwin had never understood Koushirou swordsmanship,

and even though he had experienced the mindset of Hunters who used Bushido Style through the inherited memories, it still felt vague and distant to him.

So, at least for now, he couldn’t activate Bushido Style. But for Seijuro Meow, it probably wouldn’t be difficult.

As for Link Meow, he was naturally the most suited for Striker Style. This was also the only other style besides Courage Style that Sherwin could currently activate.

And Aerial Style... perhaps after more practice with the Insect Glaive in the future, Sherwin would be able to grasp that state.

In the inherited memories, all the Hunters who used Aerial Style were cheerful glaive users.

Besides the new style system, the biggest surprise in the inherited memories was, of course, the various Hunter Arts.

Although some of them required entering a style state first, for Sherwin—who could already use two styles—those prerequisites were practically nonexistent.

However, there were still some Hunting Arts that required materials, items, or equipment from the Monster Hunter world to use, and those were truly impossible for him to perform.

For example: the Sword and Shield Chaos Oil, the Lance Healing Guard, the Charge Blade Shield Saw, and the Beast Spirit Possession of the Greatsword and Dual Blades.

What Sherwin regretted the most was Chaos Oil. In the game, a Sword and Shield using Chaos Oil was absolutely T0 tier.

Even in the inherited memories, this thing was extremely powerful and extremely rare... mainly because its crafting materials were hard to find.

In addition, among the Wirebug Silkbind techniques Sherwin had inherited, there was also a Heavy Strike Sword Oil, but one of the core ingredients for that oil was the secretions of a Wirebug itself.
