Inside the Teacher’s Cafeteria on the second floor of the Pine Soul Soul Martial dining hall.

Rong Taotao sat at a small table with his brother and sister-in-law. While he devoured his food like there was no tomorrow, his brother and sister-in-law simply held cups of hot tea, quietly watching him. They hadn’t even picked up chopsticks from the holder.

"Slow down, slow down," Yang Chunxi said, gently grabbing the hand Rong Taotao was holding his chopsticks with. "Chew your food," she added softly.

"Mmmph, mmmph!" Rong Taotao mumbled, clutching a bowl of rice as he mercilessly attacked the four plates of food. At his sister-in-law’s urging, he finally paused for a moment.

What’s that? You’re saying he just had lunch, and that it’s only time for the first class of the afternoon?

Heh, not a chance.

For Rong Taotao, hunger had already become a constant in his life.

The only difference was whether it was a tolerable hunger or the kind that made his vision go black and his head spin.

Si Huan Nian had been very understanding about one thing. A peculiar smile touched Rong Yang’s lips as he listened to his younger brother’s muttering, but he could only get up from his seat with a sigh.

"You should go see him off. I’ll be eating for a while longer. Don’t worry about me," Rong Taotao said to Yang Chunxi, blinking his eyes.

Yang Chunxi hesitated for a moment before standing up as well...

Ten minutes later, Yang Chunxi returned, bringing a chill with her. After she sat with Rong Taotao while he finished his meal, she suggested, "Let’s go to the burger joint over there and get some food for Si Huan Nian."

The familiar figure in the familiar seat. She held a paper cup with both hands, one leg crossed over the other, her gaze somewhat vacant as if she were lost in thought.

Across the small table from her, where another figure should have been, the seat was empty.

’Where’s her best friend, Gan Lin? The girl who loved petting dogs?’

Rong Taotao’s heart sank. The scene before him, especially Gao Lingwei’s blank stare at the empty seat, immediately made him think of the night Pine Soul Soul Martial University was invaded by Soul Beasts...

A terrible premonition bloomed in Rong Taotao’s mind.

He hesitated for a long moment, watching the motionless, statue-like Gao Lingwei... Finally, Rong Taotao stepped inside.

One city was Three-Wall City, one was Pine and Cypress Town, and the last was Songjiang Soul City.

And within Songjiang Soul City, the primary battleground had been Pine Soul Soul Martial University itself.

At this, Gan Lin’s expression grew somber. "Pine Soul Soul Martial suffered heavy casualties, and the atmosphere was incredibly depressing. The school commended the hundred students and held a rally to comfort and encourage everyone."
