Night had settled fully over Queens.
From the rooftops, New York looked like a living machine of light and movement. Endless streams of headlights crawled through intersections, neon signs flickered above late-night diners and liquor stores, and somewhere in the distance a siren wailed briefly before fading into the endless hum of the city.
Wind swept across the rooftop of an old apartment building. Jack stood at the edge, staring down at the streets below, the cold air tugging lightly at his jacket. His eyes moved slowly across the city blocks.
Something had changed recently. The gangs were moving differently — more cautious, more organized. That usually meant one thing.
They’re learning.
Jack lifted his wrist and looked at the Omnitrix. It glowed faintly in the darkness. "Alright," he muttered. "Let’s get to work."
He slammed the dial down.
Green light exploded outward. His body twisted and stretched as alien energy flooded through him — bones shifted, muscles reformed, sleek blue armor-like skin spread across his body. Clawed feet landed silently on the rooftop. XLR8 crouched low, tail flicking once behind him.
The city instantly slowed. Cars crawled through intersections like insects trapped in syrup. Pedestrians barely moved.
Jack grinned. "Perfect."
He launched forward. The rooftop vanished behind him as wind roared across his face and buildings blurred past like watercolors in the rain. Streetlights stretched into long lines of yellow. Within seconds he reached his first target.
An abandoned parking lot sat behind a closed convenience store. Four men stood beside a black van — one leaning casually against the hood while another opened a small plastic bag. White powder spilled inside. The buyer nodded approvingly.
"Looks good."
The dealer grinned. "Told you. Top quality."
Another man laughed while lighting a cigarette. "Boss said this batch will sell out before morning."
The buyer reached into his jacket.
Then a sudden gust of wind tore through the lot. Papers flew off the ground. The cigarette vanished from the smoker’s hand before he even registered what happened.
"What the—"
The blur struck. WHAM. One dealer slammed into the side of the van hard enough to dent the metal. Another spun violently as his legs were kicked out from under him. CRACK. His back hit the pavement before he could shout. The third criminal barely had time to raise his fist before XLR8 appeared directly in front of him and delivered a quick precise strike to the neck. The man dropped instantly.
The buyer froze. His eyes widened. "...What the hell?"
XLR8 stepped closer slowly. Large green eyes stared down at him. The man’s hands shot straight up. "Hey — hey — I didn’t do anything!"
Jack flicked his tail. THUD. The buyer collapsed.
Silence returned to the parking lot.
XLR8 crouched and picked up one of the scattered drug packages, studying it for a moment. "Yeah..." He ripped it open and let the powder spill across the asphalt. "You’re definitely not getting these back."
Within seconds the entire stash was destroyed — packages torn open, product scattered across the pavement, the wind carrying the powder into nothing. In the distance, police sirens began echoing through the streets.
Jack stood. "Perfect timing." He vanished.
Fifteen minutes later XLR8 landed on the edge of another rooftop. Below him stretched the dark waters of the East River, the docks active and lit against the surrounding darkness. Two large trucks sat beside a warehouse while several men carried heavy wooden crates toward the vehicles.
Jack crouched lower. One of the smugglers pried open a crate with a crowbar. Inside — rows of pistols, neatly packed, enough to arm a small army.
Jack sighed. "Seriously?"
One of the gang members laughed as he hefted a rifle from another crate. "Relax. Harlem’s gonna love this shipment."
"Boss said move fast tonight," another man added. "Too many problems lately."
A third man snorted. "Yeah. That Blur freak is hitting everything."
Jack smirked from his perch on the rooftop. Oh good. They know my name. He leaned forward, claws digging lightly into the roofing. Let’s keep the reputation going.
He jumped.
The blur struck like a hurricane. WHAM. The first smuggler flew across the dock and crashed into a stack of crates, wood exploding everywhere. "WHAT THE HELL—" A second man reached for his gun. Too slow. XLR8 kicked his knee sideways with a sharp CRACK and the man screamed as he collapsed. Gunfire erupted as one of the guards fired wildly into the air, but the alien was already gone.
Jack zipped between them like a living storm — a punch, a kick, a tail sweep. Criminals dropped one after another. One smuggler sprinted toward the truck. XLR8 appeared in front of him instantly.
"Going somewhere?"
The man screamed. Jack swept his legs and the smuggler slammed face-first into the pavement.
Seconds later the dock fell silent. Criminals groaned across the concrete, crates lay shattered, and weapons were scattered in every direction. XLR8 crouched on top of one of the trucks, crossed his arms, and looked down at the wreckage below.
"Shipment cancelled."
He jumped down and crushed the remaining crates with quick precise strikes — wood splintering, metal bending, every rifle and pistol rendered useless before he disappeared back into the night.
Across the city, police scanners filled with frantic chatter. "Multiple suspects down at the docks!" "Unidentified vigilante activity reported!" "Same pattern as the previous incidents!"
One officer sighed into the radio. "Whoever this Blur guy is... he’s cleaning up half the city tonight."
Green light flashed on a quiet rooftop. Jack returned to human form and sat on the ledge, stretching his shoulders slowly.
"That’s number five tonight."
His muscles ached slightly. Even with alien transformations, nonstop fighting took genuine effort. A glowing system panel appeared in front of him as notifications stacked rapidly.
[ Heroic Action Completed ]
Hero Points +6
Hero Points +4
Hero Points +5
Jack watched the numbers climb until the panel finally stabilized.
[ Hero Points: 60 ]
He leaned back slightly. "Not bad." The screen flickered again, a new message appearing beneath the total.
[ Next Alien Unlock Requirement ]
200 Hero Points Required Current Total: 60
Jack blinked. "...Two hundred?" He rubbed his forehead. "That escalated quickly."
Still — Even the next alien required that many points, I Hope it worth it. He stood back up. The wind swept across the rooftop while New York stretched endlessly below him in every direction. Somewhere in that city, gangs were still operating.
Jack cracked his neck. "Guess I’ve got work to do."
He pressed the Omnitrix dial. Green light erupted across the rooftop. XLR8 returned. The blue blur shot across the skyline once more, and tonight, New York’s criminals were running out of places to hide.
