I Tame Beasts by Feeding

Yu Changsheng watched as the Cyan Flower Deer trotted up to him and imperiously bobbed its head.

He remembered Elder Wei’s reminder and hurriedly nodded in return.

The Cyan Flower Deer then opened its mouth, obediently waiting to be fed.

If he hadn’t nodded back, Yu Changsheng had no doubt that its mouth would have been biting him instead.

As he fed the prepared leaves into its mouth, a chewing sound arose. The deer’s pair of large, beautiful eyes observed him the entire time.

The Cyan Flower Deer then mischievously bobbed its head at him again.

Yu Changsheng didn’t dare hesitate and hurriedly nodded back.

Seeing how proper this newcomer was, the Cyan Flower Deer immediately lost interest.

The Cyan Flower Deer seemed unsettled by his gaze. It immediately turned, returned to the lawn, and lay down, giving him no opportunity to touch it.

"Not bad. You’ve already got the knack for it."

Nearby, Elder Wei smiled appreciatively. "Cyan Flower Deer have a peculiar temper. Having to return their nod is one thing, but if one doesn’t take a liking to you, it’ll just lift a hoof and kick you."

Steward Chang smiled from the side. "Junior Martial Uncle Han, Changsheng promised me that he would continue to look after the Spirit Chickens even after becoming an Outer Disciple."

"I see. A good lad who keeps his word. It’s a shame. I’m planning to sell this Spirit Chicken Garden; otherwise, I could have left it for you to manage."

The elder smiled wryly and shook his head.

Yu Changsheng was somewhat surprised by their conversation.

The most valuable assets were the Array and the land itself. The Array was quite old, so its price had been partially reduced.

And while the Spiritual Qi on the Spirit Chicken Garden’s plot couldn’t compare to the summit of Beast Taming Peak, it was still better than places on the Outer Peak.

Seeing Yu Changsheng’s pensive expression, Junior Martial Uncle Han chuckled.

"It’s like this," Yu Changsheng said with a smile. "My family has recently been looking to get into the Demon Beast trade, and these Spirit Chickens are a perfect fit. I was thinking of buying the place to serve as our supply source."

Junior Martial Uncle Han looked at him in surprise, then remarked, "Selling to an Outer Disciple... that is certainly a rarity."

Then, he thought it over. If he listed it for sale, other Elders would likely try to haggle, and the whole process could take ten days to half a month. It might be better to sell it directly to the young man before him.

"It’s possible," Junior Martial Uncle Han said, raising his eyes to meet Yu Changsheng’s. "But I’ll be in the sect for another month at most. Can you make the payment within that timeframe?"

With that, he departed in a hurry.

Steward Chang looked at Yu Changsheng and chuckled. "I never thought this Spirit Chicken Garden would be yours in the blink of an eye."

Yu Changsheng didn’t dare reveal too much. He discreetly slipped the steward a bottle of elixirs and said with a smile, "It’s all my family’s business; I’m just helping out. I’ll still need to rely on your care, Steward Chang."

Steward Chang accepted the bottle of elixirs with a smile, thinking to himself, ’A disciple this sensible is truly a rare sight.’

"Yes, sir. I’ll head back after feeding the chickens for the day."
