Hypnosis: I Pretended To Be Hypnotized By My Childhood Friend

Chapter 39: You Are A Strong And Awesome Man

After quite a long conversation where Miria’s mother strongly tried to force a relationship between Liam and Miria, the three of them finally finished eating Miria’s delicious and filling meal.

"Miria, thank you for cooking for this incompetent mother." Miria’s mother said. Her smile was slightly bitter.

Miria, seeing that, could only sigh. She was not angry, but she felt that her mother did not need to cook. Her mother was already amazing enough in Miria’s eyes. She had raised her alone since her father passed away.

During her mother’s lowest times, she had managed to rise quite quickly from despair. She immediately immersed herself in continuing her father’s company until now the network had grown very high.

Even so, her mother still made time to care for Miria and gave her everything she wanted. That alone was more than enough for Miria.

That was why she did not want to add any more burden to her mother.

"Now, let Mom wash these plates." Miria’s mother started to stand up and collect the used steak plates and others.

"No, let the maids do the work, Mom." Miria said, dabbing her mouth with the napkin beside her plate.

"I-Yes, Madam, leave it to us!"

"No. How can my sweet girl cook while her mother is not even allowed to wash these dirty plates? What do you think I am? Some kind of high-class noble?"

Her mother immediately took the plates from the table and stacked them together.

Liam, seeing that, immediately felt he should help too. "Let me help as well." Liam said, taking some of the dirty plates into his hands.

"Oh~ how kind you are, Liam my son-in-law." Miria’s mother giggled with her eyes closed.

In the end, Miria could only sigh and let the two of them do what they wanted.

Liam and Miria’s mother brought the plates to the kitchen sink. The sound of the faucet splashing against the stainless steel sink could be heard.

Liam decided to take the part of drying the plates that Miria’s mother had washed.

The two of them worked in silence for a while before Miria’s mother finally spoke.

"Son."

"Just call me Liam, Madam." Liam replied immediately.

"You’re my son now. No refusing." Miria’s mother winked at Liam with a smile on her face. "Does Miria ever trouble you at school or when she is by your side, Liam?"

Liam was slightly stunned. He thought for a moment.

There was no way he would expose what Miria had been doing to him, how she had exploited the fake hypnosis app, and how Liam had only gone along with it without stopping her.

In the end, Liam could only smile bitterly while continuing to dry the plates and say, "No, I actually feel quite relieved to have her by my side."

Miria’s mother giggled again. "What is that? You two are like a match made in heaven."

Hearing that, Liam’s ears turned slightly red.

"Youth is so romantic... it reminds me of my own younger days. Although it wasn’t as romantic as yours, it was still a very enjoyable youth that remains planted in my mind for a long time." Miria’s mother looked at the ceiling, as if reminiscing about her own youth.

"Liam, this old parent knows that you were lying earlier. You have a habit of smiling bitterly when you lie, right?"

Miria’s mother hit the nail on the head. Liam could not say anything else. Perhaps because Miria’s mother had known him since he was little, she could also notice the small details about him.

"I know that Miria can sometimes burden you. That is why I also feel a little guilty toward you. That child has been very obsessed with you since she was little, you know? When I forbade her from meeting you, she threw a terrifying tantrum and destroyed everything near her." Miria’s mother poured out her heart.

Liam also remembered that. When they were little, there was a time when Miria’s mother did not allow Miria to meet him, perhaps based on worry about her child’s increasingly uncontrollable personality.

"The doctor said there was potential for obsessive love disorder to appear. When I found out, I immediately acted to keep Miria away from you. Maybe that was when my relationship with my sweet little baby girl became quite distant."

Then Miria’s mother looked at Liam. Her face was warm.

"But who would have thought that a boy would force his way into our house by breaking the glass, just to meet a girl he said was his closest friend." Miria’s mother smiled at Liam.

Liam stopped. He froze right there. That was the past when he was heavily influenced by a series called Power Heroes, acting recklessly and behaving like a superhero. It was an embarrassing phase for Liam, but who would have thought it was the reason he could become so close to Miria.

"But... when I saw that you seemed able to control Miria’s very heavy personality, I finally handed over all responsibility for taking care of Miria to you, Liam. Therefore, I feel quite guilty toward you. That is why, do not feel unworthy in this house. You will always be accepted in our family, Liam."

Liam finally finished cleaning the last plate. Miria’s mother was now standing beside him. He did not know how to respond. He was not actually that strong. He was just an ordinary man trying his best for the people around him. But he was also an ordinary man who wanted to depend on the people around him.

When faced with Miria’s hypnosis game, his desire to surrender to Miria at that time had been very strong. He was influenced by his own desires and almost wanted to continue the hypnosis game forever.

But after hearing Miria’s mother’s outpouring of feelings now, he felt that he had to end the hypnosis game as soon as possible.

Liam’s eyes became slightly teary. Seeing that, Miria’s mother raised her hand and wrapped it around Liam’s head.

Miria’s mother hugged him warmly. The embrace felt very familiar to Liam. It felt like his own mother, and he immediately surrendered to it as quickly as possible.

"You are a strong and awesome man, Liam. So stop feeling that you are unworthy of good things, stop belittling yourself, and stop pushing yourself too hard. You can depend on other people."

Miria’s mother patted Liam’s head.

Liam closed his eyes and let a single tear flow down his cheek.
