It was another clear morning.
The little bee robots flitted through a palace so vast it was practically a maze.
It skimmed over the polished floor, passed beneath one arch after another and past magnificent relief murals, then finally turned a corner and entered the corridor connecting the side of the palace to the outer courtyard.
Tap, tap, tap...
At the other end of the corridor, a faint sound of footsteps rang out.
The little bee robot immediately flew toward the sound, and very soon, this was the scene that appeared in its lens—a pair of little lambskin boots stepping over the gleaming marble floor.
As they moved, the heels of the boots struck the ground with crisp, clear clicks.
There was no doubt that the footsteps it had just heard had come from here.
They were a pair of Victorian-style black lambskin ankle boots, polished spotless, without the faintest trace of dust.
The lens continued upward along the boots, revealing a pair of straight, slender legs wrapped in white knee-high stockings, with just a bit of the top edge showing.
Between the stockings and the knees were metal garter clips, and slightly above that, a black thigh ring circled pale, lustrous skin.
A long swallowtail vest hugged that slim waist, and the two sharply cut tails trailed behind, fluttering with each light step like actual swallows dancing through the air.
The ❀ Nоvеlігht ❀ (Don’t copy, read here) little bee robot slowly rose higher, and the lens followed suit until it reached chest level.
Inside the vest was a silk shirt that looked expensive at a glance. It was covered in fine silver patterns that shimmered in the sunlight like ripples over a lake, glittering softly and seeming to echo the golden scale brooch pinned at the chest.
And with just a little more height, the lens would have captured the person’s face.
But at that exact moment, the little bee robot chose to stop.
By sheer coincidence, the other person stopped as well.
They were standing in front of a floor-to-ceiling window.
Through the glass, it was clear that outside had already entered midsummer. Great clusters of hydrangeas were blooming in the courtyard, their gradient-colored flower heads pressed together in masses.
When the wind blew, the blooms swayed in overlapping waves, like a sea of clouds and snow in motion.
And in the middle of that dreamlike ocean of flowers, a handsome, imposing white wolf was chasing another little bee robot. Wherever the little robot flew, the wolf bounded after it.
It was clever, though.
Knowing these hydrangeas were someone’s recent favorite, no matter how playful it was, the white wolf carefully controlled itself and did not damage those delicate blossoms.
So in the camera’s view, the wolf moved through the sea of flowers with astonishing lightness. Its tall, powerfully built body was unexpectedly nimble.
The little robot’s flying speed, on the other hand, had long since been preset.
So it did not take long before the white wolf caught up.
From the robot’s perspective, all it saw was a heavy paw descending from above and slamming it flat onto the ground.
The little bee robot that had just been flying crashed instantly.
The white wolf curiously looked at the little black metal lump, observed it for quite a while, then finally lifted its fluffy paw as if showing great mercy.
And when it saw that the little robot was still lying there motionless, the wolf instinctively nudged it with its nose.
It looked as if it were saying, Fly. Why aren’t you flying anymore?
The little robot: “........”
In the end, the little robot rose into the air again in aggrieved silence.
The white wolf wanted to continue chasing it, but when it passed near the floor-to-ceiling window, it sensed something.
It turned sharply toward the window in alertness, but the moment it saw the figure inside, that vigilance immediately transformed into excitement.
Its tail started wagging frantically, and it let out a string of happy little howls.
The person standing by the window saw the wolf’s enthusiasm too and seemed unable to help smiling.
Bright but not scorching sunlight fell over him, and in the shifting light and shadow, that radiance from nature itself was like a layer of pale golden gauze draped over his exquisite, beautiful face, softening it with a hazy glow.
One little bee robot was outside, the other inside. From two different angles, front and back, they captured his appearance.
His slightly long silver hair was tied back with a ribbon. Beneath thick, curled lashes, those pale gold eyes shone no less brilliantly than the sunlight reflecting in them.
And his features stood right between youth and young adulthood, carrying both the former’s freshness and the latter’s rich, stirring beauty.
This was a face clearly favored by the Creator.
Before seeing the boy in person, it would have been hard to imagine anyone could be beautiful to this degree.
Standing before the floor-to-ceiling window, framed by the arches and murals behind him, he looked just like a little prince.
In a sense, that was exactly what he was.
The white wolf excitedly ran in from outside, bits of leaves and grass still clinging to its fur.
Wen Yuzhi reached out and rubbed its head, brushing off the leaves that had gotten stuck to it.
The white wolf wagged its tail and whined as it tried to rub itself against Wen Yuzhi.
But it had been eating extremely well lately. Its body had grown plumper and sturdier by the day, and it was already nothing like the white wolf it had once been.
Even a light rub was now a heavy burden for Wen Yuzhi.
The boy sighed, tugged on the wolf’s ear, and said in distress, “Awu, you really need to lose weight.”
The white wolf tilted its head and kept playing dumb, as though it had not heard a thing.
Lose weight?
That was impossible.
Ever since coming here, it had never gone hungry again. Every day, the white wolf ate at least seven or eight roast chickens, two sheep, plus several rabbits.
That’s right—even though it no longer lacked food, the white wolf’s favorite thing to eat was still plump little rabbits. If it really opened up its stomach, eating more than ten rabbits in one go would not be a problem at all. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Every time Wen Yuzhi watched the white wolf eat, the only thought in his mind was how lucky he was to be rich. Besides his own little vault, Daddy, Mond, and the others would also send him gifts from time to time. Otherwise, with the way Awu ate, an ordinary person really would not be able to afford to raise him.
“The way you spend your days now is even happier than mine.”
Every day, after eating its fill, it slept. After sleeping enough, it played in the courtyard. Mond had even specially built the white wolf a pet playground, full of climbing and jumping structures for it to romp around on.
It could be said that in the entire interstellar world, there was not a single wolf living a happier life than the white wolf.
Because it had followed a little master who was cherished by all.
The Saint Clan adored their little highness, and naturally, they loved the white wolf too for Wen Yuzhi’s sake.
By now, the white wolf counted as a wolf of some standing in the palace.
With good food, good lodging, and good fun, of course its weight was shooting upward. All of that was proof of happiness.
By contrast, Wen Yuzhi felt that the reason he could never gain weight was because his own life was simply too hard.
These days, every morning he had to help Mansendis handle government affairs. In the afternoons, he had to go with Mu Luo to soothe Saint Clan whose mental seas had been severely damaged. And even on rest days, he still had to attend another class or two.
Those little classes were taught on a rotating basis by various people.
For example, Mond taught him knowledge and etiquette related to court affairs. Alvin taught him negotiation and communication skills. Selet taught him military theory and self-defense.
Though having the supreme commander who held the military’s highest authority personally teach him self-defense was a clear case of using a battle cannon to swat a fly, Wen Yuzhi really did not have much talent in that area.
His progress had always been shaky and stumbling. Selet had held back so much that Wen Yuzhi’s confidence had barely managed to survive intact.
And under all those class arrangements, Wen Yuzhi’s schedule was packed from start to finish. Even time like this, coming out to the corridor for a breath of air, had been squeezed out with difficulty.
He played with the white wolf for a while, then seeing that it was almost time, hurried toward the study.
Inside the study, the silver-haired sovereign was seated behind the desk, while Alvin stood before him, respectfully reporting something.
Seeing that they were discussing important matters, Wen Yuzhi did not rashly interrupt. He stepped lightly over to the little desk beside Mansendis and sat down.
Ever since Mansendis decided to have him help process government affairs, Wen Yuzhi had officially gained a place of his own in this study.
Before, when he came here, it had simply been to keep Daddy company—either sleeping or playing.
But now it was different. Mansendis had Mond add another small desk beside his own, and that little desk was Assistant Zhizhi’s workstation.
At the moment, a pile of government affairs awaiting processing had already been placed on Wen Yuzhi’s little desk.
Wen Yuzhi sat down, took one look, and immediately sorted the documents by order of urgency and importance.
Unlike before, when seeing so many files had given him nothing but headaches and distress, Wen Yuzhi could now already sort everything that needed handling with practiced ease.
And all of that was the result of nearly half a year of hard study.
He considered that his current self definitely counted as a very qualified little assistant.
By the time Mansendis and Alvin finished their discussion and turned back, Wen Yuzhi had already stacked the various documents into neat, orderly piles. The boy sat calmly in his chair, but from the corner of his eye, he was glancing this way.
The moment he saw Mansendis look over, his gaze darted away at once, and he put on the appearance of seriously staring at the light-brain screen.
Mansendis had noticed this little movement from him long ago.
He curled a finger and lightly tapped the desk. “How did Zhizhi do on today’s homework?”
This task, of course, was not sorting files and the like, but the homework Mansendis had recently begun assigning to Wen Yuzhi.
He had started letting Wen Yuzhi handle some smaller, less important matters.
Those sorts of documents ordinarily would never have been placed on Mansendis’s desk in the first place. Alvin and the Saint Clan beneath him could make those decisions on their own.
And as Wen Yuzhi sorted files, he had gradually gained a general understanding of the Saint Clan’s internal structure. Seeing that he was already familiar with these matters, Mansendis simply handed some of the less urgent affairs over to the cub for practice.
Wen Yuzhi took those files out and offered them to Mansendis with both hands, like a well-behaved student waiting for a teacher to grade his homework.
“Daddy, please take a look.”
