- Chapter 1: Jensen’s Awakening
The body took very little time forming, and once it was done Jensen could see the end result.
Jensen immediately got into his battle stance. He pushed his senses to their limits as he prepared for the ancient entity’s attack.
The ancient entity chuckled. "Relax, we will not be fighting."
He waved his hand and the white space transformed into a beautiful sight of space.
There was a waterfall with a massive green field of many trees. It seemed like flat land floating in space.
"It is beautiful," Jensen said as he looked around, but he did not drop his guard.
What if the ancient entity was baiting him? It wasn’t like it hadn’t done it before.
Suddenly the ancient entity was right in front of him, his index finger resting on Jensen’s forehead.
"Relax."
Jensen suddenly felt all his willpower to fight drain away. Chills ran up his spine. "What type of skill is that?" he muttered, stunned.
"A simple use of charm."
"Charm?" Jensen questioned incredulously. "My Lord, I cannot even see your face."
’Not to mention you are a man.’ After seeing the ancient entity’s form, he could finally confirm that the ancient entity was a man.
"If you were to see my true face, you would most likely run mad."
"Once you enter the realms of laws, you will begin to understand. Charm isn’t just about looks."
"The more connected you are to law, the more beautiful you become... It is far more complex than that, but that is all you have to know for now."
"Take a seat." The ancient entity pointed in front of him as he sat on the grass.
Jensen stared at him for a few seconds before sitting down. It was quite obvious that he couldn’t put up a struggle.
"May I ask what this trial is all about?" Jensen asked.
"Nothing really. I just wanted to be sure if you matched the criteria I set for my successor."
"If it has anything to do with morals, I am sure I have failed." Jensen chuckled.
"Why would I base my criteria on something as basic as morals?" the ancient entity asked rhetorically. "Morals are far too subjective to be of any use."
"You humans take morals as something important even though a lot of you break them."
"Your morals on things like genocide and procreation are nothing but a farce in most parts of the outside world."
"I myself have wiped out several races, some more powerful than your entire race combined, simply because they bored me."
’Wait... if he was that powerful, what could have possibly killed him? And are there still more out there?’ Jensen thought.
"Except for a few people, mostly progenitors of primal races, nobody was strong enough to kill me," the ancient entity chuckled.
"As for who killed me... The Universe gave me a choice and I chose death."
"The universe killed you?" Jensen asked incredulously. "Can the universe really do that?"
"Not exactly. Let me explain from the beginning." The ancient entity paused for a second before continuing. "I will tell you as much as I can without dooming you."
"The first successful races to be born after the birth of the universe are known as ’The Primal Races’."
"Vampyres are one of them. We were born so powerful that we were forces of nature immediately after birth."
"We also had access to multiple Origins, granting us access to almost all paths and branches."
"Of course, like anyone would have expected, we misused our absolute power."
"Like I said, the universe was new and creation had just begun, but we... interrupted it."
"The universe finally got involved and created Genesis... a system meant to restore balance."
"We were sealed and our races were going to be degraded." 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"I chose death. The universe agreed and supported my choice, like it did for many others."
"The universe allowed us to leave behind our legacy, and some of us decided to stay with our legacy and choose our successor."
"Ever since then the universe has always been about balance."
Jensen’s eyes widened. "So, there is a way to have more than one Origin."
"Yes, but are you ready for the consequences?"
"Consequences?"
"Like I said, the universe has always been about balance ever since. With such talent..." The entity paused for a moment before continuing.
"Think of the universe as a passive parent."
"It keeps a watchful eye on you but doesn’t interfere. It gives you tests and when you win it rewards you, but if you fail... well you wouldn’t live to talk about it."
"The more talented you are, the higher the difficulty of your tests."
"With your current talent it is already hard. My bloodline makes it harder, topped with several Origins... I don’t have to explain to you."
"If I use your bloodline, I may change my race to yours. Wouldn’t that give me several Origins?" Jensen asked.
"You cannot change your race. Not to mention the universe intentionally weakened all primal bloodlines."
"At most you may create a subrace."
"Is there a way to gain all these advantages while hiding from the Universe?"
"There is no way, at least as far as I know... After all, you are the first person I have met in millennia."
"Most of my information is millennia old and also limited to the Valtherion Empire."
"Valtherion Empire?" Jensen asked.
"The civilization before you. They own the ruins in the secret realms your civilization finds."
"What happened to them?" Jensen inquired.
"I don’t know exactly what happened, but I have a good guess." The ancient entity chuckled. "But I will not be telling you. Figure it out yourself."
"Any other questions?"
"What were you testing for?"
"Willpower," the ancient entity said. "With the trials and tribulations, you will face, you will need a lot of it."
"With this logic, people with strong backgrounds will obviously have an advantage."
"Like I said, the Universe is very strict about balance."
"If a very powerful guardian is with you, the universe will compensate by increasing the danger to balance the scale."
"Damn."
"I am not your first choice, am I?" Jensen asked.
"What gave that away?"
"Just a simple thought."
"Yes, you are not my first option. The first was the 17th Emperor of the Valtherion Empire, however his destiny lay somewhere else."
"I cannot tell you more than that."
"My lord, may I know your name?"
"I have gone by so many names," the ancient entity said as he seemed to be reminiscing. "In your language, my name would be Xal’Zyraeth Morvath."
