"Master," Huo Ling’er suddenly spoke up, "Do we really need to determine where we are?"

Chen Xuan looked at her.

"What I mean is... before your arrival, I noticed several runes inside the underground cave. There should be a teleportation formation beneath the island."

"If we can activate it again, shouldn’t we be able to return to the mine?"

Huo Ling’er was somewhat naive and impulsive, but not stupid.

Unfortunately, there had been no time to prepare and gather the resources on the other side.

He knew that his disciples were in danger, and he had no time to waste.

Having answered her question, Chen Xuan didn’t speak any further but motioned for them to follow.

He approached the shore.

This place was a sea beast den!

"Even so, beasts occupy most of the region. Their numbers are immeasurable, while the powerful individuals among them are numerous."

As if to prove her words, a massive shadow suddenly appeared dozens of miles away.

The ocean erupted as a colossal tentacle burst from the sea and pierced the heavens.

The clouds were split apart.

The next instant, a sharp cry echoed.

"Chirp!"

A beautiful bird cloaked in five-colored light appeared overhead in the sky.

Its feathers shimmered brilliantly, while its cultivation had already reached the Core Formation realm.

Yet it was powerless to resist.

The tentacle coiled around its body like a serpent, before several more emerged from the sea and bound it completely.

The next moment, the bird was dragged beneath the waves.

A splash echoed, followed by the sound of chewing.

Moments later, the scent of blood in the air intensified.

The entire confrontation had lasted only seconds from start to finish.

But that short amount of time had been enough for Chen Xuan to identify both creatures.

A Deep Sea Kraken and a Five-Elements Peacock—both demons he had only encountered in ancient books.

Both species had long vanished from the Tianxuan Domain and its neighboring regions, becoming a thing of the past.

Yet, legends regarding their power remained.

’If possible, I’d rather avoid provoking creatures like that. Unfortunately...’

Chen Xuan shook his head. He knew they had little choice.

After one final glance at the turbulent sea, Chen Xuan enveloped his disciples in his power and rose into the air.

He neither dared to step close to the sea nor chose to go too high into the sky.

The earlier scene had made one thing abundantly clear: the sea was dangerous, but so was the sky.

As such, he moved in the space between the sea and the sky, maintaining an altitude of roughly fifty meters above the water.

In his Dantian, the Nascent Soul pointed its finger, concealing the auras and scent of his disciples.

Then, carefully, he began heading toward the south.

Not because he had suddenly discovered something, but because that route appeared to contain the fewest beasts among all directions.

’Such situations usually mean one of two things.’

’Either that place is the territory of cultivators and demons have learned to stay away, or...’

’It’s the place where a more powerful demon is lurking.’

Chen Xuan could only bet that it was the former.
