Wu Kuang’s gaze fell on him. A flicker of surprise crossed his face, but it was quickly replaced by delight.

Yet now, Wu Kuang had led soldiers to surround him.

There were only two possibilities.

Either Demon Monk Shanxin had chosen to cooperate with Chen Sheng and Wu Kuang, or he had been defeated and captured. There was absolutely no third possibility.

But either possibility seemed unbelievable to him.

Demon Monk Shanxin was wanted by Golden Spring Temple. He would never dare reveal his location, let alone work with the Government Office. As for failure... that was even more impossible. After all, he was an expert of the Innate Level.

A smile touched the corners of Wu Kuang’s lips.

"What’s important is, will you surrender peacefully, Clan Leader Gao? Or... should I beat you half to death before taking you in?"

Gao Yuanfeng glanced at the soldiers who surrounded him, eying him like predators. Then he looked back at the utter confidence on Wu Kuang’s face. A bitter, tragic smile spread across his own.

His family was destroyed, his revenge was hopeless, and now he himself was trapped here.

’Could it be that the heavens have truly abandoned the Gao Clan?’

Gao Yuanfeng let out a shrill laugh, a sound born of self-mockery and utter despair. His eyes finally locked onto Wu Kuang.

"I have long heard that County Captain Wu is a master who rose from the ranks of the army. I’ve never had a chance to test your skills. Today, I would like to experience your methods for myself."

"Very well. I will grant your wish!"

Wu Kuang’s eyes narrowed. After a few moments of contemplation, he gave a slight nod. At his beckoning, a nearby soldier immediately handed him a pair of Eight-Edged Plum Blossom Bright Silver Hammers, each the size of a baby’s head.

With the twin hammers in his grasp, Wu Kuang’s aura changed abruptly. He seemed as immovable as a mountain, yet carried an unshakeable, ferocious air. His eyes were fixed on Gao Yuanfeng.

At that moment, the atmosphere tensed.

SHINK!

Without a word of warning, Gao Yuanfeng suddenly drew his longsword and thrust it at Wu Kuang. Facing the assault, Wu Kuang didn’t bother to evade. He simply brought his twin hammers together, effortlessly clamping onto the sword’s tip.

The next instant, the hammers’ momentum shifted, and they came crashing down toward Gao Yuanfeng with immense force.

CLANG—

The tip of the sword scraped against a silver hammer, sending a shower of sparks into the air.

Staggered by the immense force, Gao Yuanfeng’s expression changed drastically as he immediately retreated. Wu Kuang’s strike, heavy as a mountain, whipped up a powerful gust of wind. Seizing the advantage, he refused to give his opponent another chance.

He stepped forward, crossing several yards in an instant, and brought his hammers down again in a strike like Mount Tai Pressing Down.

CRASH!

Gao Yuanfeng dodged the hammer by a hair’s breadth, but the table and chairs next to him exploded under the impact. Wu Kuang sneered and swiftly changed his attack.

He aimed a direct blow at Gao Yuanfeng’s chest.

This time, he had nowhere to run. Though he raised his longsword to block, it was no match for Wu Kuang’s tremendous strength. The blade twisted instantly as the hammer slammed into his chest.

PFFT!

Gao Yuanfeng was sent flying, spraying a mouthful of blood through the air.
