The trek down the mountain was quiet and long. Hana’s fifteen-day belly was getting heavy now, and it gave off a constant, radiating heat that made her sweat.

She wore her white nanofiber dress—the indestructible one she had found in the den and sewn herself—and it stretched tight over her stomach. But she could only feel safe in this.

Her tactical harness was buckled firmly over her big breasts, and she kept her stun gun secure against her thigh.

​Caspian walked right behind her, using his big body to block the steep edge of the cliff. Every now and then, Kulu would let out a low whistle from the trees above, letting them know the path was clear.

​Raiden walked on her right, completely silent. His pink hair was damp, and his nine pink tails were tucked close to his legs so they wouldn’t catch on the thorns. The usual playful smirk was completely gone from his face. He looked stressed.

​Hana didn’t try to comfort him. She didn’t have the energy to waste on soft words. She just kept her eyes on the trail and her hand on her tablet.

The reason she was going with the tablet was so she could monitor the den on live feed whenever and wherever she was. The robots were watching and on guard, so if anyone tried to steal, they would be disintegrated or decapitated on the spot.

She made sure to let them all know before she left so she doesn’t have to stress herself and spill blood. It was a hassle checking the live feed every five minutes.

But if they doubted that the robots were capable of turning them to mince meat, they were more than ready to test it out.

After trekking for a while, Hana sat down on a rock and began to rethink Caspian’s offer. There was no way she could keep walking like this even if she considered it an exercise.

"Here, love," Raiden offered her the water bottle so she could drink water and then whipped up some dried seasoned meat which she chewed on with no issues.

Raiden had gotten very good at cooking. But the other two were quite the disaster.

Caspian didn’t have the patience for small flames so he’d burn it all by adding his own heat.

Kulu was too cautious and if something began to go wrong his reflex would cause his wings to flutter and just a mere flutter could make great wind. The entire kitchen got turned upside down twice.

And so after the first two attempts, they just gave up and left it to Raiden and he sure as hell gloated nonstop about it.

"I’m still hungry," she muttered to herself.

"I also brought the steamed potatoes," Raiden said, unwrapping the steamed potatoes he had cooked that morning. Since Hana was getting heavier by the day, her appetite had also grown. She liked to eat almost every time of the day and Raiden had prepared for that.

"Thank you," she said as she accepted the steamed potato.

They were literally going off to war but here she was grumbling about food. She should just be lucky she didn’t have bad morning sickness.

After the first two throw ups in the morning, she was fine for the rest of the day. But she had become a nag, much more than she had been before, having mood swings that mostly involved temper so anyone in her way was just asking to be beaten. And then, she couldn’t stand their sweaty smell either.

That was why they were currently smelling like shampoo models after sampling various soap, shampoo and lotion options.

"By the way, Raiden," Hana called. "Is there something you can tell us about the Crimson Court?" As soon as she asked this, she immediately noticed the way the hair on his tails slightly stood on edge.

The others might have not noticed it but there was no fooling her eyes.

"Um, my mother didn’t speak about them much," he said, averting his eyes but Hana’s eyes turned fierce and she narrowed her eyes. Raiden gulped. He could already tell she could see through his lies. "Hana... They are cruel." He finally said. "They only care about bloodline."

"Don’t you all?" She asked, blowing on the hot potato in her hand. "Even Caspian cares about the pure blood of his child in my womb." She mentioned and Caspian turned his face away, clearing his throat. "Though, I guess it must be to some disgusting degree if your mother ran away and ended up with your father."

"She told me to never get caught up with them." Raiden added, his mother’s strained words echoing through his skull. "For they will put me in a gilded cage."

"Raiden," Hana called and he lifted his head. Her gaze was sharp, fierce and completely devoid of any bit of fear a woman should have when walking with a bloated belly towards a tribe that had crimson in its name. "Who do you fear most? The crimson court? Or me?" Her voice dropped coldly and he flinched.

Of course it was Hana. The crimson court was filled with a bunch of foxes he didn’t even know. No matter their cruel methods, he was certain they could not measure up to Hana’s cruelty. And it was even worse because he had feelings for her.

If Hana were to turn her back on him and become cruel to him, he didn’t know how he would live with himself. He would rather run feral and kill everyone in the crimson court.

Hana did not need to hear those words to see the answer in Raiden’s emerald eyes. She nodded, her lips curved in a smirk.

"Good that you know what’s what. Just listen to me, never cower and never bow. The only person you’re allowed to bow to is me. Got it?"

"Yes, Hana." He said and she turned her head to the other two.

"That goes for you too. If you must fear anyone at all, fear me. If you must love anyone, love me. And if you must crave anyone, crave me. Because I am your mate, and you are mine. Do I make myself clear?"
