Frieren's normally calm eyes now showed a trace of curiosity.

She followed Rei Ao from a distance, watching his back intently.

Leaving the ice-covered area, the temperature gradually returned to normal.

Inside Fujimi Academy, many students hiding in the buildings stared in terror at the scene outside, wondering if someone had thrown some sort of freezing bomb.

Rei Ao noticed that there were still people inside the buildings.

It was a bit troublesome.

Would this mean he couldn't go on killing the undead freely?

He was here to kill undead, not harm others.

So he asked, "I'm planning to leave your school and head outside. What about you?"

Saeko Busujima, snapping back to reality, thought of her companions and immediately shook her head. "I need to find my comrades."

"Comrades?"

Rei Ao thought of Takashi Komuro and the others.

With his enhanced eyesight and hearing, he could easily see a group of people surrounded by undead in front of a building.

Pointing in that direction, he said, "You mean them, right? Your friends?"

"?!!"

Looking where he pointed, Saeko Busujima finally noticed.

"Miyamoto Rei?"

A busty brunette turned her head at the sound of her name, her face lighting up with joy. "Saeko-senpai, we finally found you!"

"Hey! Don't lower your guard!!!"

A pink-haired, twin-tailed girl wearing glasses angrily shouted, reminding them of the dangerous situation they were still in.

"Everyone, stay in formation and move towards Saeko-senpai."

A young man commanded the group.

There were three girls and two guys, advancing while fighting off the undead.

Rei Ao stood by with his arms crossed, watching with interest.

This was the protagonist group, after all.

There was the brunette, Miyamoto Rei.

The pink-haired Takagi Saya.

The voluptuous, blonde school nurse, Shizuka Marikawa.

And of course, the male protagonist Takashi Komuro, along with a chubby guy named Kohta Hirano.

Suddenly, Saeko Busujima's eyes widened.

She shouted a warning: "Watch out!!"

"Ahhhhh! Get off me!!!"

Before Miyamoto Rei and the others could react, they heard a scream.

It was the chubby guy, Kohta Hirano, who had been grabbed by an undead creature around his leg.

And then—

"Roar!!!"

The undead bit into his leg, blood and flesh splattering instantly.

"Kohta!!!"

Takashi Komuro instinctively reached out to help him, but the panicked Kohta, like a drowning man clutching at straws, accidentally pulled Takashi down to the ground with him.

"Takashi Komuro!!!"

Miyamoto Rei, in turn, tried to help them.

But Takagi Saya grabbed her, holding her back.

In a mere second, the two who had fallen were completely surrounded by the undead.

Saeko Busujima urgently pleaded with Rei Ao.

"Sorry, but the trade is already complete."

Rei Ao's indifferent reply followed.

Call him cold-blooded or heartless if you wanted.

Rei Ao didn't care in the slightest.

He wasn't about to play the hero just because they were pretty.
