Synopsis

Aiden has only one year left to live, three copper coins to his name, and a line of street lamps that will probably outlast him. He's already accepted two of those things. Then, a dying rat trapped in a sewer offers him a contract: sacrifice six months of his lifespan, and receive a bond with it. By any reasonable standard, it's the worst deal he's ever made. So naturally, Aiden accepts. Because that's the kind of choice he's always made. But the impossible happens. The rat evolves. The contract gives him back more years than he lost, along with a piece of the beast's power that permanently becomes his own. The ability to melt locks with acid. The ability to move through shadows and cross a room in an instant. Soon, the world stops laughing at the man who tamed a sewer rat. After all, anyone who sees him force a noble's Griffin into a tree and casually walk away from a battlefield without looking back will think twice. But every year Aiden spends his power, his lifespan continues to shrink. And the stronger his beasts become, the more the world fears them. Especially after they learn to take human form and call him by name. Four creatures that should have died forgotten in the gutter. Four women who emerged from those creatures. One dying man. And a mysterious countdown that every powerful being in the world would kill to possess. **[Remaining Lifespan: 0.5 Years]** The countdown began the moment Aiden chose to live.
