Synopsis

Qiao Mei found herself transmigrated into a novel as a minor supporting character who shared her name and had almost no presence at all. In the story, this “Qiao Mei” was a rural girl and a chubby “country bumpkin” who couldn’t get married because of her weight.

According to the original plot, she was a spoiled daughter doted on by her grandfather. But their relatives were all greedy and cruel. Her grandfather was in poor health, and once he passed away, the relatives would tear apart and seize his assets.

Because of this, her grandfather’s greatest wish was to get Qiao Mei married off as soon as possible. In his desperation, he even betrayed his best friend’s grandson, Xia Zhe. He got Xia Zhe drunk, and then arranged for Qiao Mei—who weighed over two hundred pounds—to end up in bed with the tall and handsome man. The next day, he would catch them and force Xia Zhe to marry her.

But that decision was the beginning of Qiao Mei’s miserable life in the original story.

On top of that, Qiao Mei had originally obtained Xia Zhe’s mysterious jade pendant. However, due to her foolishness, she was tricked by her cousin into giving it away, which later made that cousin’s family rich and successful.

When Qiao Mei transmigrated, it was right at the most awkward moment—she was already in bed with a drunk Xia Zhe. The next morning, she woke up groggily, only to find her grandfather already at the door with his people.

Panicking, Qiao Mei refused to follow the original plot. She didn’t want to marry a man who didn’t love her. So she lied her way out and sent her grandfather away, then hurriedly pushed Xia Zhe out before finally looking at herself in the mirror.

What she saw made her want to cry.

Her skin was dark, her figure round and heavy—like a sumo wrestler wrapped in oversized clothes. Even plus-size stores wouldn’t have anything in her size. Her face was round like a pizza… worse, a burnt pizza.

Qiao Mei made a firm decision to change her life.

Step one: lose weight.
Step two: clean up her house—she used to love cleanliness, but now her spacious courtyard was a total mess.
Step three: hold onto that jade tightly so her greedy cousin never gets a chance again.

But… wasn’t Xia Zhe supposed to hate her according to the original story? Why was he suddenly getting kinder and gentler toward her day by day?
